Our Expertise

Troy Nicholl
P.Eng | Principal Engineer & President
With over 25 years of experience in facilities engineering, energy operations and consulting firms, Troy brings a client driven approach creating a competitive culture that offers staff and new hires development opportunities and exposure to build confidence and technical self-sufficiency.
Troy continues to guide the company’s vision with a focus on integrating Alta Tech’s environmental strategy into an evolving energy sector. He believes the company’s stability is rooted in the depth and experience across its leadership team, while its long-term relevance depends on fostering emerging talent with the potential to bring fresh perspective, strengthen how work is delivered, and keep Alta Tech active, adaptable, and forward-looking.
Murray Ostrander
M.A.Sc., P.Eng. | Principal Hydrogeologist & VP Technical Services
A Principal Hydrogeologist with over 35 years of experience in hydrogeology and environmental engineering, his expertise includes the conceptualization of hydrogeologic and hydrologic systems, risk assessment, remediation, quantitative analysis, surface water impact assessment, and surface water, groundwater, and contaminant transport modelling.
His project experience includes both regional and site-specific conceptual model development, the design, operation, and maintenance of remedial systems, groundwater supply development, wellhead protection studies, reclamation planning, water resource management, wetland assessments, and environmental impact assessments.
Over the course of his career, he has also taught several intermediate and advanced courses in quantitative hydrogeology.
Lyle Ostrander
P.Eng. | Principal Environmental Engineer & VP Operations
Bringing over 30 years of experience in asset environmental management and project execution, Lyle has led environmental programs across a range of facility and plot plan settings, including sour gas plants, oil sands, and mining operations.
Over the past 22 years, he has built a strong track record in hazardous waste site characterization, groundwater and soil contamination assessment, source delineation, remedial design, and regulatory compliance.
As one of Alta Tech’s Principal Engineers, Lyle combines technical expertise with a strong understanding of earthworks and construction. The planning, development, and execution of multi-million-dollar remediation and reclamation projects have been central to his role, alongside mentoring emerging talent within the organization.
